Prepare your reference library before sharing a single answer.
Keep useful files locally, inspect what is available and decide which material belongs in a particular conversation.

The starting point
An independent consultant wants a project brief, research notes and a client-supplied reference close at hand. Some material is public; other parts should stay on the Mac until there is a clear reason to use them.
A file collection and a model conversation have different purposes. Treating every saved attachment as permanent background can obscure what was shared, while repeatedly finding and attaching the same reference makes it harder to maintain a deliberate working set.
What you bring
- Files explicitly selected for the separate local reference folder.
- Each file's name, supported type and size, with the original retained for comparison.
- A later conversation request defining which supported content is relevant.
What EVO needs to understand
EVO distinguishes storing a reference from reading it into a model request. Adding a file makes it available for deliberate use; it does not silently authorize every specialist, convert the whole file into a memory or make unsupported content understandable.
Working through it
Create a useful local collection
Import the selected file into the separate reference area. The application checks the supported file boundaries and confirms the saved copy before showing a successful result. A failed or uncertain read is not presented as an empty collection.
Inspect before involving the assistant
Review available file information and supported text previews. A binary reference can be preserved without claiming its contents were extracted. Document inspection is a separate supported workflow when the task requires understanding the file.
Share for a purpose
Choose the material needed for the current question, then review its processing route. A request about one public brief is not permission to include every client file. Local storage and local model execution remain separate choices.
What you receive
- An organized local set of explicitly chosen references.
- A clear view of what is saved, readable or unavailable.
- A narrower, purposeful selection for a later question instead of an automatic upload of the collection.
When you come back
The saved reference can remain available for another visit. Check which version is appropriate before using it again; the assistant should not infer that a stored file is still current or that earlier sharing covers a new task.
Your information and choices
- Choose imports and review the material before it is used.
- Decide separately whether selected content may leave the device.
- Manage references separately from approved long-term memories and from ordinary conversation history.
Current scope
Implemented foundation
- Local reference import, supported preview and confirmed readback are implemented in the Mac development build.
Next milestones
- File types, sizes and extraction paths have limits. Saving a binary file does not establish that EVO has read it.
- This is a local reference workflow, not a claim of enterprise document administration, automatic whole-library retrieval or universal offline AI.
